Lightroom 40 Serial Number
The only Adobe product that I am aware of that no longer has a authentication server operating is Photoshop CS2. That server failed, and due to the expense of rebuilding it Adobe simply set up a new download with a freely available key. I have seen examples of where they have pointed users of older than CS2 to upgrade to that version, rather than trying to deal with older versions. This is an issue for companies that sell perpetual licenses to software, and require authentication. A customer will expect to be able to keep moving the software to new hardware, or otherwise reinstall the software and for it to work. If the authentication server vanishes then they will have to deal with that, since the customer is right to expect his software to keep working.
The Lr4 authentication server is still working as far as I know, when I upgraded my computer last year it worked fine so that I could upgrade to CC, I had to do that since Lr4 doesn't support my 5K monitor, and you need a magnifying glass to read the text. Adobe insists on managing all the drawing to screen themselves, so the Windows screen scaling that I find works well normally, even Office 2007 looks great, is of no help. You will need to find someone willing to sell you a key for the program, mines not for sale though, just in case I need to access something from an old catalogue, without the catalogue upgrade process.

This is what I get: A serial number is not required at this time. 4 Replies Latest reply on Nov 2, 2016 10:40 AM by markv40813080. My camera has been stolen and I don't recall registering it with Sony, but I know that LR can separate cameras by serial number, just don't.
